Today’s Passage: Psalm 146:8-10
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. — Psalm 146:8
Less than two weeks from Christmas we may be feeling the crush of the season. The overwhelming rush and hustle. It can all seem so chaotic. That is when I am reminded that the Lord is also busy, always at work. In today’s text, the psalmist reminds us:
The Lord …
Opens the eyes of the blind;
Raises up those who are bowed down;
Protects the strangers;
Supports the fatherless and the widow;
Above it all, The Lord loves.
And I am reminded that I am both the object of His labor, and am one He calls to be like Him. At the same time I am given sight, raised up, protected and loved I am called to love, protect, raise up and shine the sight-giving light of Jesus into a dark and bowed down world.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me when I was a stranger. Help me love those around me that are least likeable the way You love me. In Jesus’s name, amen.
